St Monica's Catholic Primary School

Music

We have a long tradition of excellence in Music at St Monica’s! We are fortunate to have a specialist Music teacher called Mr Charles-Nelson who works Monday – Thursday. Every class from Reception to Year 6 has a weekly music lesson with him for a minimum of one hour.

See our Music Intent Statement below.

30% of the children in the school have instrumental music lessons with a peripatetic teacher. Teachers are provided by Enfield Music Service.

If you would like your child to learn an instrument at school, look out for the details in the weekly newsletter. We recommend that children wait until they reach Year 2 before starting lessons. Children are currently learning keyboard, piano, recorder, violin, cello, guitar, flute, clarinet and a few others!

We also have a choir who meet after school on Mondays. Their next performance will be the St Cecilia concert on 18th November. They are also looking forward to performing at The Young Voices concert at the O2 in January 2025.

Our peripatetic violin teacher Lynne Baker, leads a strings group after school on Thursdays.

We have regular music assemblies and concerts which parents/carers are invited to. The children are delighted to play for an audience and parents enjoy seeing how much their children have learnt!
